Molly Gibson’s Sketchbook
Solo exhibition at John Rylands Library Manchester February/March 2011
A project created for exhibition, inspired by Elizabeth Gaskell’s last novel, Wives and Daughters. Molly Gibson is the heroine of the novel, and her interests reflect Early Victorian England – fashion, science, garden design, natural history and plant hunting along with other scientific discovery.
The exhibition brings together my passions for drawing, natural history and literature. As such it has been a labour of love and the result of a great deal of research into life in the Victorian period, and Elizabeth Gaskell. My list of thanks to contributors is a mile long.
The works are available for sale.
